Choosing craft beer or ciders #BrewedinIowa not only makes for a great day, but directly supports Iowa’s economy. With facilities in 76 communities across the state, Iowa’s craft beer industry is creating jobs and providing a ripple of economic impact.

Iowa breweries generated a total economic impact of $1.25 billion last year from brewery operations, trade, and tourism. The industry is projected to continue to grow in the next five years, including a projected 17.5% growth in total output and a 9.6% percent increase in jobs.

With approximately 150 brewery locations in Iowa, 144,424 barrels of craft beer were produced last year driving tax revenue and jobs across the state.

Facilities in 76 Iowa communities help create local jobs, increase local tax revenue and provide quality of life amenities, often redeveloping manufacturing spaces.

Iowa craft beer workforce totaled 7,219 employees last year for direct operations and trade, an increase of 567 employees since 2018 (+9 %). Throughout the supply chain and worker spending, the industry supports a total of 14,448 jobs in Iowa.

Visitor spending at local breweries, wineries, and distilleries has generated $410 million for Iowa tourism.
